Young girls beware of mobile phone’s trap!

Young girls are getting deceived by mobile phone affair in capital city and its surrounding areas. In the name of love these girls are getting sexually abused. As a result these deceived girls are either mentally distressed or using drugs to forget all these pain.

Every month specialists are treating and advising hundreds of these girls. In fact some mentally shattered girls are choosing the way of suicide. Guardians of mentally distressed girls are taking to psychiatrists for treatment. It has come to knowledge that every month some specialists are treating hundreds of deceived girls who are sexually abused. A specialist depicted how one group of young men are deceiving girls through mobile phone and abuse them day after day.

Prominent psychiatrist Dr. M.A. Mohit Kamal said, parents ignore whether their teen or young girl of school-college and young boy converse with someone on mobile phone for hours. Even some parents disregard this issue. In some family talking on mobile phone is a fad. It’s a duty of parents to check with whom their child is talking on phone for hours instead of studying.

He said, these sexual abuses are social crimes. In this case police cannot do anything, parents have the main duty. He informed that three to five girls deceived like this come to him everyday. In opinion of psychiatrists, every month hundreds of teen-young girls are getting sexually abused in capital and its surrounding areas.

According to various sources, private university and English medium girls mostly fall into mobile phone deception. Perverted young men gather mobile numbers of these girls from their friends or some other way. One group of men collects girls’ number from flexiload shops.

These perverted young men are busy with collecting cell phone numbers. After collecting the number they act gentle initially. Then with sweet talks a speaking relationship grows between two. Then with different acting-tricks they meet in park or restaurants. At one stage these youth fall in love. Physical relation starts between them. According to pre-planning these physical relations are caught on a video camera. If some girls do not agree then this video footage is shown. Then somewhat forced sexual relation starts. Young man continues to have illicit relation with the girl. In this way young girls fall into mobile phone trap and get sexually abused.

Officials of metropolitan detective police (DB) confirmed these events. Sub-police commissioner (DB north zone) Mainul Hasan said that they get these sorts of complaints often. Keeping in societal status of family parents do not help in investigation. He addressed parents to help in order to severely punish accused young men. In this case identity of suffered girl will be kept confidential.

The old tale of harassment in bus

In present competitive world women has to work hard to survive beside man. Many times they have to come out in early morning and return late night. Most women travel by bus to school, college, university, office.

Men and women travel together on bus. But they have to constantly bear with wrong and injustice. And whoever revolts has to face harassment and, who just keeps mouth shut and bear there is no girl like her. It’s hard to get a bus during office time due to crowd. The bus comes filled from wherever it starts. That’s why passengers of next stoppages have to ride standing even within crowd. Sometimes a young man will give his seat away to an elderly woman. But this scene is really rare nowadays.

According to Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTC) law, 9 seats in big buses and 6 in small buses are reserved for women, children and disabled. Including this reserved sits women can sit in other seats as well. If any man is sitting on reserved seats then he has to give it away as soon as a woman gets on bus. But this rule is not followed.

Sometimes men and women are seen arguing about reserved seats. A young girl was describing her experience like this - "so one day through the heavy crowd I somehow got up on a bus from Farmgate. An old women and a private university teacher were also standing with me. Men were sitting in all 9 reserve seats. One of them got up immediately after that woman asked to and other two said we paid fair. But that apu is adamant, they have to get up. At one stage a severe argument took place about this. Even few old women sitting at the back were saying, see, as a woman how she is arguing with men. I requested apu not to talk. She told me, this happens because you do not retaliate. At last one guy let go of the sit after reaching Banani from Farmgate. That apu sat and asked me to sit."

Another day; few students of Titumir College got up from Mohakhali on Ekushey Transportation and see there are no seats. When all of them asked men to let go of reserved seats, many men replied simultaneously ‘why?’ Girls pointed their attention and told ‘see it is written there, reserved sits.’ They said satirically ‘Oh, it’s reserved for disabled, are you disabled?’

Someone else said ‘Women are disabled and imbalanced, they wan to depend on men and live’ At this stage bus helper came and said ‘get up and let them sit.’ Then they actually got up.

But there are quite opposite pictures as well. Even if there are men sitting on reserved seats they let go when they see women. In our neighboring country India every bus has equally reserved seats for both men and women. If either men or women are more in number they will ride standing. But as this is the rule in our country women gets to be harassed constantly while traveling by bus. Who knows when this era of harassment will end in Bangladesh.
